River Valley is a prime residential area due to its proximity to the Central Business District and Orchard Road. Besides the numerous dining and shopping options the area is known for, here’s our guide on five fun things you can do in River Valley!
-
Jump for Joy at the AMPED Trampoline Park
Get hyped at Singapore’s first indoor trampoline park! With more than 5,000 square feet of interconnected trampolines, including a parkour wall and foam pit, kids (and kids at heart!) can do unlimited splits, dives, flips and burn a whopping number of calories.
Visit it at 46 Kim Yam Road from 9 am to 8 pm (Tuesday to Friday), 9 am to 9 pm (Saturday to Sunday), and 9 am to 7 pm (Monday).
-
Visit the Hong San See Temple
Perched on a hill and once overlooking the sea, Hong San See Temple is a national monument that everyone must visit.
Built by immigrants from Fujian, China, the temple is designed in the traditional Hokkien architectural style – from the usage of chien nien technique (the “cut and paste” of colourful porcelain pieces to form mosaic figures) on its roof to exposed structural elements. The exquisitely carved granite columns are equally impressive.
Visit it at 31 Mohamed Sultan Rd from 8 am to 5 pm daily.
-
Stop by the Chesed-El Synagogue
Make the most out of your trip and visit a second national monument in River Valley.
The immaculate Chesed-El Synagogue is one of the two synagogues in Singapore. It’s designed in the Palladian style with arches and Corinthian columns. The interiors are beautifully lit, with white columns towering either side of the main hall.
Visit it at 2 Oxley Rise from 7:30 am to 5 pm (Monday, Thursday), 9 am to 5 pm (Tuesday, Wednesday), 9 am to 9:30 pm (Friday), and 8:30 am to 1 pm (Saturday).
-
Take a Walk along Jiak Kim Bridge
Jiak Kim Bridge is a simple yet stunning cable-arched footbridge spanning the Singapore River. Residents usually take light walks or jog on the bridge either in the morning or evening when the bridge lights up. If you’re lucky, you might even chance upon a romp of otters by the river!
Visit it at the Singapore River near Robertson Quay.
-
Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth at the House on the Moon
Elevate your dessert game at House on the Moon, an open-concept dessert bar conceptualized by Michelin-starred chef Juan Amador and his protégé and current head chef Hüseyin Turan. Each plate of dessert is a work of art paired with specially-blended teas. Besides their sweet creations, their savoury meals will also hit the spot!
Visit it at 1 Kim Seng Promenade #01, K101, from 11 am to 9 pm (Sunday to Thursday), and 11 am to 10 pm (Friday and Saturday).
